Complex projects in virtual teams - Overcoming Covid Constraints with Technology

Slagelse Pedestrian Bridge is 60-meter complex steel bridge located over Slagelse Station for the municipality of Slagelse in Denmark.

Its complex geometry was solved with help of Tekla Live Link for Grasshopper. This allowed Rambøll in the early design phases to work on the project while still being able to reposition the main geometry.

Adapting new technologies

This project was selected as a local winner because it demonstrates the benefits of adopting new technologies and challenging the status quo. Together with their partners, Ramboll have developed a BIM-model that carries all necessary information to build the bridge using Tekla structures, Tekla Live link for grasshopper and SiteVision. The customer has also used Tekla Model Sharing in successful cross-border collaboration.

The benefits of using BIM and Trimble software

BaneDanmark, who is the Project Approver, has seen a significant reduction in change orders when using this new technology in this project. The use of Tekla Modelsharing allowed all parties to work together and use the same information. This was important during the project as corona lockdown happened and the project team was separated.

Once completed the model was shared with the steel fabricator who was also using Tekla.

A single model ensures a clash free design and that the structure is buildable. The 3d-model also enhances the understanding of scope of work at site.
