BuildingPoint Scandinavia is very happy to present the latest installment of IDEA StatiCa: Version 23.1! And the list of improvements is long and interesting for all existing users, or anyone considering IDEA StatiCa (free trial available!) These are some of the key features in this version of the popular software:
Steel Enhancements
The development team placed a strong emphasis on error prevention and reporting related to steel. This includes improving the accuracy and reliability of welds, load positioning, and detailing checks… and more! (See the IDEA StatiCa release notes for more details!
IMAGE: The Detailing check in IDEA StatiCa Connection allows engineers to have a better overview of the design and code-check of bolts and welds thanks to thorough information and recommendations according to Eurocode provided in Check tables as well as in the Report:
OK - represented by the green tick button.
Error - represented by the red cross icon.
Warning - represented by the yellow triangle with an exclamation point icon.
Info - represented by the blue info icon
IMAGE: To help with checking minimum plate thickness and ductility, there are now alerts in the Connection app for when welds and bolts (or bolts and preloaded bolts) are used for connecting the same plates..
Member design
Designing members has become more user-friendly and accessible than ever.
By selecting one of the commonly used scenarios in the wizard, you can quickly grasp the member's purpose and benefits.
Additionally, the introduction of rigid support members simplifies the process of defining boundary conditions.
Fire design
Moreover, the fire design module now automatically calculates temperatures for connections.

IMAGE: Welds: Equivalent stress, which was the only stress shown in earlier versions of IDEA StatiCa, is now colored grey / green / orange / red according to Warning and Optimal check level (editable in Code setup) for higher clarity. This improved functionality will help engineers understand the stresses in welded connections!
Auto-design welds
With a simple click, you can now automatically design welds to determine their overall capacity.
This allows you to optimize the weld size, taking into account the strength of the welded plates, and significantly reduce design time.
This process guarantees the safety of weld sizes across all welds in your connection project.
IMAGE: You can now auto-design welds to estimate their total capacity by the click of one button. This means you can optimize the weld size based on the welded plate strength and shorten the design time. All of this happens while at the same time ensuring the safe weld size for all welds in your connection project.
IFC File Export!
Many will appreciate this new feature: IDEA StatiCa Connection now has the capability to generate IFC files, encompassing all relevant information such as bolts, welds, and materials.
This enhancement enables structural engineers to seamlessly share connection designs with detailers for reference.
IMAGE: Now you can be sure that your detailers get all the details, including a geometrically accurate model of the connection with all the bolts, welds, and materials.
IDEA StatiCa Detail
IMAGE: Unified GUI over the IDEA StatiCa apps, faster and smoother! Main 3D scene brings larger space for displaying, controlling and manipulation itself as seen here for a concrete wall example!
IDEA StatiCa has recieved a comprehensive overhaul of IDEA StatiCa Detail, the solution for the structural design of concrete walls and details.
This includes a refreshed user interface with new icons and ribbon designs, new modeling commands, better 3D scene, and more reporting options, all of which help you get the job done faster!
These improvements collectively result in a more efficient and streamlined work experience for users.
