Tekla Structures’ custom weld preparation tools are versatile, equipped with a comprehensive set of configurations to meet diverse detailing needs. The components include rat/mouse holes, web flange preparations, and more, each customizable and toggleable according to project requirements.

For instance, weld backing bars can be easily disabled for specific components, streamlining the preparation process. The components are parametric, so if you change the dimensions of the main and/or secondary parts, as an example, the component will update accordingly.

 

Modifying Specific Elements

The system allows users to selectively modify elements of the weld cope. For example, weld preparations on flanges can be toggled easily.

This flexibility enables precise, tailored detailing for specific structural requirements. Users can also adjust dimensions and styles of components like scallops and rat holes, ensuring compliance with exact project specifications.

Integration with System Components

A key feature is the compatibility of these tools with Tekla’s inbuilt connection systems. Custom components can be combined with system components, allowing for enhanced, precise weld preparations.

Users can apply these preparations selectively, such as adding a weld prep to the top flange while removing it from the bottom.
