Thank you for attending the Rebar Detailing workshop in Denmark!

VIDEO: Thank you for coming to the Rebar Detailing event in Køge! This video is a short summary of what the event was all about. We particularly want to thank the speakers, and Lemvigh-Müller who invited everyone to a factory tour!

In collaboration with Lemvigh-Müller, NCC and CN3, BuildingPoint Scandinavia invited professionals from across the construction industry to explore how 3D BIM can improve rebar detailing, fabrication, and project execution. This article is a summary of the take-aways from the event—as well as a thank you to everyone that contributed and attended!

Factory tour

The afternoon began with a factory tour at Lemvigh-Müller, offering a firsthand look at rebar production and the role of precise BIM models in fabrication. The tour set the stage for the presentations and discussions that followed, where industry experts shared their experiences and best practices.

This event brought together representatives from engineering, contracting, and rebar manufacturing—covering a signicant portion of the full supply chain! Each diciplin are responsible for efficiency in their part of a construction project, and the presentations provided unique perspectives on how digital workflows, accurate BIM models, and optimized detailing practices can reduce errors, improve efficiency, and support better collaboration between all stakeholders.

Lemvigh-Müller

Before the factory tour, Lemvigh-Müller demonstrated how rebar production benefits from well-prepared BIM models.

Anders Egø Larsen and Kim Pedersen shared best practices for detailing rebar to avoid common issues that can lead to fabrication delays or on-site complications.

One of the key takeaways was how early collaboration between engineers, contractors, and fabricators ensures a smoother production process and reduces material waste.

NCC

Michael Madsen and Casper Hertz Nielsen from NCC presented how they use BIM models throughout the entire project lifecycle, from early planning and bidding to on-site execution and quality control.

Their presentation highlighted how a single, detailed 3D model helps streamline communication between project stakeholders, reducing errors caused by outdated or incomplete 2D drawings.

They also shared real-world examples of how BIM improves scheduling, cost management, and on-site coordination. Read more about the Kronløbsøen project!

NCC

Improving concrete design and construction by connecting the digital model with the real world!

CN3

Engineering consultant CN3 focused on the appropriate Level of Detail (LOD) in rebar modeling, balancing constructability, fabrication efficiency, and model usability.

Their insights helped clarify when high-detail models are beneficial and when a simplified approach is more practical. They also introduced the capabilities of Tekla’s API and custom plug-ins, showing how digital tools can be tailored to meet specific project needs and enhance automation in rebar detailing!

Trimble and BuildingPoint Scandinavia

Trimble and BuildingPoint Scandinavia wrapped up the event with a session on BIM tools and workflows that help create an efficient digital process.

We covered Tekla Structures, Rhino Grasshopper, and Trimble Connect, showing how these tools support accurate rebar modeling and detailing, improved communication with fabricators and contractors, and better project coordination and data sharing.

This session emphasized how integrating these tools into everyday workflows leads to better project outcomes, saving time and reducing costly rework.

Engagement, discussions and networking

Beyond the presentations, the event encouraged open discussions about BIM adoption, detailing challenges, and best practices. Attendees from engineering firms, contracting companies, and rebar manufacturers had the chance to exchange experiences, ask questions, and discuss how to bridge the gap between design, fabrication, and construction.

The event concluded with networking over food and drinks, providing a valuable opportunity for professionals to connect, share insights, and explore potential collaborations.

Thank you!

We want to thank all the speakers who took time to prepare and share experiences from the industry. We particularly want to thank the Lemvigh-Müller team for arranging the factory tour, which we are confident that everyone appreciated!

For those who attended: Thank you for coming! We hope you gained useful knowledge and ideas to apply in your projects. If you have any feedback or follow-up questions, feel free to reach out to our team.

If you couldn’t join us this time, keep an eye out for future events where we will continue to explore BIM innovations and industry best practices.

Thank you again for making this event a success! We look forward to seeing you next time.
