Tekla Component for Nordic Fastening Group’s Welding Plates
To simplify the modeling and ordering process for standard welding plates, we’ve developed a custom Tekla component specifically for Nordic Fastening Group’s SPS and SPK plate types. The component is now available for download via the Tekla Warehouse, and can be found under the “Applications & Components” panel once installed.
Two plate types, multiple sizes
The component includes both SPS and SPK plates, each with a range of available sizes. Users can configure plate dimensions, assign part prefixes and start numbers, and define the class for each plate instance.
The plates can be inserted as either individual assemblies or subassemblies, depending on project requirements. For repetitive placements, Tekla’s copy functionality can be used to quickly distribute plates along a selected edge with defined spacing.
Customizable and easy to use

Positioning the plates is straightforward! Users define a temporary reference point, select two edges to create a placement plane, and specify offsets to place the plate center accurately.
Once placed, the components can be easily duplicated or adjusted, and settings can be saved for future use.
At the end of the modeling process, a material list can be generated directly from the model, showing all inserted components with their corresponding sizes and quantities. This list can be sent directly to Nordic Fastening Group for ordering.

The video above walks through the full workflow—from downloading the component to placing, modifying, and generating the final order list. For more information or to download the component, visit the Tekla Warehouse page:
Also available from NFG: Tension Rods!
Nordic Fastening Group (NFG) now offers a plugin (developed by BuildingPoint Scandinavia) for their customers to helps engineers model tension rod systems directly in Tekla Structures—accurately, efficiently, and with built-in product data!
